“ One of the SGV classics, this small hole in the wall restaurant has been around since 1997. Their claypot rice is a must, many varieties and portion size is enough for 2. Service is average, expected from a typical SGV Chinese restaurant. ”
“ The store looks pretty small and easy to miss from the outside, but inside, it's all about traditional and classic Cantonese food, desserts, and drinks. My favorite is the Guilinggao. It's thick, smooth, and has that distinct Chinese herbal taste. I also tried the black sesame dessert, though the sesame flavor was a bit mild for my taste. The waitress was super friendly, and the service was quick and straightforward. ”
“ Good clay pot. Flavorful but my pot didn't get the crispy bottom that I was hoping for. Takes a minute to come out because its made to order. There is parking in the front of the store along the street, but they have a private lot in the back of the restaurant. ”
“ A whole restaurant devoted to Chinese soups? So up my alley. They have quite a large menu of soups so while I tried just one, I am eager to try more. I came with my parents and we shared 1 soup and 2 claypot rice dishes. My pick for soup was the hog stomach with gingko. The soup was lacking in flavor. The broth itself didn't taste like it was made with sufficient quantity of bones or meat to really flavor the soup. I still appreciated having a restaurant serve this dish. This is the kind of soup that your grandmother or mom might make at home, with humble ingredients such as pig stomach, and would never otherwise grace a restaurant menu so for that, kudos. The rice dishes were fine. The Preserved meat with taro had both lap cheong (Chinese sausage) and lap yuk (preserved pork) with cubes of taro and steamed broccoli and you drizzle a delicious seasoned soy over it. The steamed ribs had a thick sauce so it was like the ribs were prepared separately and just laid over the rice. ”
“ So wished I could like this place for it's herbal and medicinal dishes. Canto Clay Pot, Herbal Medicinal Soups, and drinks. I think the quality has decreased over time. Maybe not enough eaters know how to eat for healthy anymore like back in the days? The SO came back from a hardcore camping trip with some wheezing, snoring, etc. It's not covid. I wanted replenishing, anti inflammatory ingredients that could help cool down, heal but still nourish the body. Prices for medicinal type of food and drinks cost more due to many times prices of ingredients to how long it takes to cook a soup. S2. Ginseng with Black Chicken Soups for Health (花旗參炖烏雞 Sam Hoa Ky ham gaac Canh Duong Sinh) $15.99. :( Pretty small in size and looks like leftovers of black chicken. But guess I can't be picky since it's a pretty expensive dish normally, and not made at menu places? Or maybe it's better to dine-in for some of these dishes? - I was stuck picking between ginseng or cordyceps flower. A quick google search showed ginseng replenishes (immunity, memory, support stress response) and cordyceps being increased stamina/boosting (lungs, kidneys, liver, intestinal). Easy choice for me to pick ginseng just as an overall booster. Dessert could help with the lungs instead. We also don't have any blood thinning issues so either would be fine for us. Clay Pots -- Add $3.25 for Egg, Sausage, Taro, or bamboo. H 17. COMBO CLAYPOT RICE (beef, chicken, Chinese sausage, vegetables). $15.99 - I chose the above vs H4. Chicken with Lily Flower & Fungus Clay Pot Rice, comes spicy $14.99. I'll have to try this next time. D10. Steamed Pear with White Fungus Dessert (川貝銀耳炖雪梨 Xuyen boi chung le) $7.50 Can be drank hot or cold. I like it cold. My mom would not approve that though. This came in a pretty small half or 1/4 size styrofoam bowl. This was okay. I'm glad it wasn't overly sweet but it was still sweeter than what I expected for an herbal medicinal place. T7. Cough Drink Tra xuyen boi lo. $7.50 Can be drank cold or hot. It's bitter. I've drank it before. It tastes a bit like water down black medicine. I visited this restaurant a very very long time ago for turtle soup. Supposedly the best turtle soup back back back in the day. ”
“ Have been knowing NP for several decades and have been many times but didn't write a review!? Consistency is the key that NP has been doing so perfectly!! All Clay Pot Rice with all kinds of favorite are doing so delicious and the temperature are just right on!! Hot enough but not too bad, self made soy sauces made those hot rice so tasty!! Unfortunately the desserts I liked Steamed Egg and Steamed Milk with Ginger Syrup were sold out!! Then I just have a cold taro taro sago... still tasty, but Steamed Egg or Milk are the best for Chinese desserts... I ordered Spareribs and Chinese Sausage Rice n Winter Melon Ice Tea!!! Delicious foods and a warm night in the winter!! ”
